Schreiber Bassoon Serial Numbers
The bassoon is a woodwind instrument in the double reed family that typically plays music written in the bass and tenor clefs, and occasionally the treble. The bassoon is used prominently in orchestral, concert band, and chamber music literature. A Fox bassoon, model No. 601, with serial No. 29997, was stolen between 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 12 and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13 from Scales Fine Arts Center, Wake Forest University. It is carried in a black case that looks very similar to a violin case.
Are you sure there is no serial number? The serial number is almost always underneath the metal boot joint cap (the bit that the seat strap attaches to). It should pop off easily if you pull it carefully (don't put pressure on any keys while doing it). There were fake copy Schreibers made roughly post-WWII era. They were stamped Schreiber, but didn't have serial numbers.

Honestly, the value will probably depend more on how it plays, the condition it is in and the bocals you have with it more so than whatever brand it happens to be, unless it is a Heckel (unlikely since you don't see a stamp).
